We find ourselves in a complex and challenging situation in Afghanistan, where nearly four decades of armed conflict have inflicted severe damage on the country’s physical, social, institutional, political, and economic infrastructures. These circumstances have posed significant obstacles and disruptions in providing quality services to the Afghan people.
In response to these challenges, the Organization of Technical Cooperation for Community Development (OTCD) was established in 2007. Since then, OTCD has remained steadfast in its commitment to supporting the development of Afghanistan. Through comprehensive and integrated initiatives and interventions in areas such as health, education, social development, and human and women’s rights, OTCD has played a vital role in contributing to the country’s progress.
As we reflect upon the past 15 years of our existence and achievements, it fills us with great pride to announce that OTCD has earned a distinguished reputation as an institution in Afghanistan.
This milestone would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of our remarkable team. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our managers, health professionals, social workers, community outreach workers, peer educators, trainers, and volunteers. Their collective efforts have strengthened and expanded the provision of quality services to some of Afghanistan’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged communities, including drug users, people affected by HIV/AIDS, women and men with high-risk behaviours, street and working children, prison inmates, returning refugees, school students, and religious scholars.
While Afghanistan continues to face significant socio-political challenges within the region, OTCD stands prepared to embrace the opportunities and confront the obstacles that lie ahead. We are committed to adopting the right strategies and approaches in the years to come.
